| History
Marean
Lake Resort was purchased by Lawrence and Rose McCrea
in 1952 from Mr. Burroughs, who at that time was living
in British Columbia. Octavius Moore was the caretaker
of the lake at that time.

In
the 50's the lake was not developed at all. There
was only one cabin which Oc Moore stayed in and there
was a small store on the beach that was run by Steve
Plaskan. The level of the lake was very low during
the 50's. At one point in time there were two baseball
diamonds on the main beach where many a game was played.
In the early 50's the lake was noted for it's excellent
Pickeral fishing.
As
the 50's rolled on the water level of the lake started
to rise. At one point there was no beach at all as
the water lapped at the grassy area that surrounds
it. The water level remained fairly high and stable
throughout the 70's and 80's.
During
the 1960's Lawrence started to develop the lake. He
put a lot of work into the lake and it was acknowledged
by the influx of permanent cabin owners.
In 1975 Robert (Lawrence's eldest son) and Mary McCrea
purchased the lake and began to run it full time.
They have continued to preserve the beauty and originality
of the resort, while significantly advancing its development.
In the 1980's they added a new road for permanent
cabins and increased the size of the store. More recently
they have added public showers and 12 new power camp
sites.
In
2006 Robert and Mary's four children and their spouses
purchased the resort. Glen
Quale is now the full-time general manager and
co-owner.
Marean
Lake Resort has been a family owned and operated business
for more than 50 years. We hope that you will come
and enjoy it as much as we do.
